…because sometimes you just need to knit something a little bit sexy!
Okay, so my interest in “Sexy Knitting Patterns” began when I came across the book Knitting Lingerie Style by Joan McGowan-Michael. I was in my late teens at the time and I was shocked to realize that there were knitting patterns for such luxurious and sexy pieces.
Joan McGowan-Michael’s book changed my world and has left me with a fascination for hand knit lingerie and all things sexy. If you have not read Knitting Lingerie Style, grab a copy from somewhere (I secured my first copy from my local library but have since bought it to avoid the late fees!)

Camisole Knitting Patterns
The Classic Camisole Knitting Pattern
The Classic Camisole by Darling Jadore is perfect in every way. From it’s delicate straps to the smooth, stockinette body and just a hint of ribbing at the bottom, this pattern is in a word, sublime.
Darling Jadore has classified this pattern as suitable for the advanced-beginner and provides us with links to helpful tutorial videos when you purchase the pattern. The Classic Camisole comes in a wide range of sizes (XS – 5XL) with a bust circumference between 26.5″ – 57.5″ (71.12cm – 146.05cm) with a detailed schematic and sizing guide provided within pattern.
The Classic Camisole is knit seamlessly from the bottom up both in the round and flat and it is designed as a relaxed-fitting, slightly oversized boxy camisole with approx. 3”-5” (7.62 cm – 12.7 cm) of positive ease at the bust. Darling Jadore has designed this pattern for a fingering weight yarn. We LOVE the decadence of Hand Maiden Flyss (65% Silk 35% Linen) and Debbie Bliss Luna (100% Cashmere):

Seductive Stocking Knitting Patterns
Lace rib stockings
The Lace Rib Stockings by Jennie Atkinson are an incredibly sexy knitting pattern with their long length and a peek-a-boo ribbon at the top! They are knitted in the round, top down, in a simple lace and rib pattern and the foot size can be adjusted to fit.
Jennie Atkinson designed the Lace Rib Stockings using Fairytale Dreamtime 3ply by Patons UK but that yarn has since been discontinued. I love Capretta Superwash (80% Fine Superwash Merino Wool, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon) in “White” and Palette(100% Peruvian Highland Wool) in “Cream”:

Akemi
A bit of texture some lace and a sprinkling of bobbles make up the incredibly sexy Akemi by Isabell Kraemer. This triangular shawl features 2 lace pattern bands as well as a textured section that incorporates small garter stitch stripes.
Akemi is designed to be knit flat from the top down using KOKON Fingering Weight Merino Yarn in the colorway #MPLY06 Dusk. Personally, I’d love to knit it in silk such as Luminance Lace by Knit Picks in the colorways “Bliss” or “Joy”:

Skirt & Dress Knitting Patterns
Cables and Curves Cable Knit Skirt
by Lauren Riker
Lauren Riker describes the Cables and Curves Cable Knit Skirt as flirty and fitted and just perfect for the cold weather when paired with boots and tights! It is knit in the round and because it’s short it doesn’t take long to knit, but still provides enough of a challenge with several vertical cables.
Top off the Cables and Curves Cable Knit Skirt with a ribbon or belt of your choosing! Lauren designed it using Naturally Caron Country which has been discontinued. 2 fabulous substitutes include Berroco Vintage (52% Acrylic 40% Wool 8% Nylon) and Knit Picks Swish Worsted (100% Fine Superwash Merino Wool) which both come in a variety of colorways for you to choose from!
Twirl of Your Dreams Crop Top and Skirt
by Lauren Riker
This sexy skirt and crop top pattern ensemble by Lauren Riker is appropriately named Twirl of Your Dreams. The outfit is knit seamlessly from the bottom up and features daisies, ruffles and an optional ribbon bow. Wear both pieces together or mix and match with other pieces in your wardrobe!
The skirt pattern features a fold over waistband to encase an elastic so you can adjust for a perfect fit! Lauren designed Twirl of Your Dreams using Knit Picks Cotlin DK (70% Tanguis Cotton, 30% Linen). I love the “Swan” and “Cerise” colorways and there are dozens more to choose from!
Wild Irises Lace Dress
by Lauren Riker
The delightful and playful Wild Irises Lace Dress by Lauren Riker features a scalloped picot hem and a lace pattern that Lauren designed to resemble a field of wild irises. The dress gathers at the waist to create a ruffled skirt that Lauren assures us we can twirl to our hearts content!
Wild Irises Lace Dress is knit in the round from the bottom up using a circular needle. Lauren provides us with both written and charted pattern instructions as well as loads of photos and insightful tips.
The Wild Irises Lace Dress was designed using Knit Picks Brava Worsted yarn.

a little something special
I will complete the post today with a round-up of extra special pieces that will add just a touch of hand knit feminine sensuality to an otherwise simple garment or outfit. Enjoy!
This Dressing Gown by Jennie Atkinson is one of the most exquisite and sophisticated knitting patterns that I’ve ever seen! It was inspired by the glamour of 1930s Hollywood which I think that Jennie captured entirely.
According Jennie’s website, the Dressing Gown is knitted in reverse stocking stitch, with a simple openwork stripe. It has a large, garter stitch collar shaped using short-row shaping, and is edged with a pretty lace edging added on. The gown is tied with a crochet tie threaded below the bust.
The Dressing Gown is designed for bust sizes 32″-34″ (81cm-86cm) and 36″-38 (84cm – 95cm). It was designed using Rowan Kid Classic Yarn that comes in several delectable shades. Two of my favorites are “Floss” and “Drought”:
